i just started college and i was wondering what are the marketing courses that i should take?

Honestly, just take what you need to get your degree. Your schooling is going to help you get a job, if that’s what you want. You are definitely going to learn from your classes, but from my experience you will learn far more from your own experiences.

What I’m saying is this:
Get your degree to help you get a job, but use the internet and get all the experience you can for you real "education". People coming straight out of school tend to be real green :)

That’s assuming you want a job, of course. I learned marketing and I began making my living from home using the internet. No more jobs, bosses, etc. for me. The freedom is wonderful, and the money is just as sweet!

Companies, marketers and advertising agencies are facing a dramatic shift in marketing realitiy – and are increasingly failing to connect with consumers.
The big challenge in times of exchangeable products, the rise of social media and mature and rather brand sceptic consumers:
To find new ways how to get people engaged again in products, advertising and in brands.

As Network Marketing and Direct Sales Professionals, together we can do more to reverse the worldwide recession and give people their dreams back, than all of the government bailout packages combined.

We can rebuild and re-energize the free enterprise system from the ground up one individual at a time.

But to do this we’re going to have to start a revolution. We have to create a revolution in the way our business is done. We have to stop the scam artists, educate our teams better, and challenge ourselves to higher levels of leadership.

We need to do better. And we can. But to do that, we need your voice and participation.

Join in the Network Marketing Revolution.

A revolution in the way we do business, how network marketing is viewed around the world, and what kind of future we will build with it.

Viva la Revolucion!

Does anyone know of a reliable source, or are you able to explain what the difference is between a marketing representative and marketing consultant is? Thanks in advance.

The Difference is that a Marketing Consultant helps an organization market better or differently to fulfill the organizations goal or needs. Whereas a Marketing Representative implements different marketing strategies, sometimes gathered information from a Marketing Consultant.

Hope that helps

OK, I give in. Due to overwhelming popular request and to celebrate the 1st anniversary of my German surprise hit (see my other movies) here’s finally an English version. I present it with the utmost respect for the creators, actors, staff and all other participants of the original STAR WARS movie and without any intensions for commercial use.

I am planning to start a startup with one of my friend but our product is not ready yet. I want to know what can a marketing guy do in that case? like market research, deciding the customer/client strategy, strategy for approaching VC etc.? Any pointers in this regard will be helpful.

Just to clarify – I am gonna assume you are a Marketing person and not a Sales person. As a Marketing person, you need to have the corporate strategy, product strategy and branding done before the sales person is even hired! As soon as the Sales person comes on board, he can just take ur go to market strategy, use the demo product and start working the market.

If I were to list a few things (in chronological order):
1. Vision and mission statement
2. Branding – create logo, design templates, taglines, colour swatch
3. Implementation of branding – create website, sales collateral, brochures, company signboards, demo products, etc.
4. Marketing strategy – Create an overall go to market strategy including pricing and product feature/benefits listing.
5. Promotions strategy – Create the list of external/internal communications activities that you need to take up

By the time you have done all this, I sure hope the product is ready!

In my marketing class, we all have to pick a marketing problem and do research. We have to follow the format on how to conduct the research also. What would be a good topic for me to choose? My topics of interest is finances, future career(s), and sports.

You can do something along the lines of "how do tobacco companies attract new users even though they have a negative consequence?" Also, look at how tobacco companies sponsor the ads that say that tobacco is bad.
